It’s the twenty-first century and some states still have outdated laws of a couple of centuries ago. Virginia state Senator Adam Ebbin is trying to fix one of those laws by legalizing the 140,000 Virginians currently living together. Undoubtedly, there will be a few legislators who will vote against this.

Perhaps most striking about this law is that it was being enforced as late as the 1990s when a woman had a day care license held up because she was living with her boyfriend.
